Construction Scope
New home construction is progressing in Dogwood Terrace, where 280 apartment-style two-bedroom homes were demolished and will be replaced with 156 town homes. A total of 52 Company Grade homes will be built this year. More than 300 new three, four and five bedroom homes have opened in Palmetto Terrace which includes 256 E1-E5 town homes and 46 E6-E8 town homes. A total of 577 homes will be constructed at Fort Polk. Of those, 38 will be in two new areas for O6-O7 and E9, and the balance will be in-fill. To date, more than 2,300 homes have received either a minor, medium or major renovation. There are currently 3,478 homes with a 3,661 end state.
Fort Polk now has four Neighborhood Centers, including the Camellia Terrace Neighborhood Center, which opened in 2011, Palmetto Terrace Neighborhood Center, which opened in September 2007, Maple Terrace Neighborhood Center which opened on May 19, 2009, and Dogwood Terrace Neighborhood Center which opened on March 10, 2010. These facilities include amenities for families such as a swimming pool, workout room, media room, game room, computer lab and meeting space. There has been $230 million invested to-date to small and local businesses.
